Air pollutants sources and effects

Air pollutants sources and effects  Air pollution is mainly caused due to two reasons first humans and second due to air pollutants present in the atmosphere. And if you want to control or stop pollution in air, first you have to know about air pollutants, their sources and its effect. When you get full and complete information about their sources. Then you will recognise the real cause and will be able to control it. Through this article we conveyed air pollutants full information from where they are generated and how they will affect you and your family. Let's start Air pollutants sources and effects CO ( carbon monoxide) It is colorless, odorless, tasteless gas, chemically inert under normal condition of temperature and pressure. It has no effect at normal concentration (0.1 ppm) but at higher concentration it is seriously affects  the human metabolism. Sources a) CO reduce the oxygen carrying capacity of blood by reacting with hemoglobin and cause giddiness, laziness and exhaus

Applications Of 4R'S Principal

Practical work is always difficult than theory .

When we read about any theory on conserving or saving environment.  We are inspired by that.

But we don't know how to apply these ways or concepts in our lifestyle.

Similarly we learn about 4R'S principle and how it help in managing the waste.

But when we try to use 4R'S principal in our life routine, we get confused.

In this article we tried to to convey you the real life applications of 4R'S principal.

Through which management of waste become super easy.

Before starting it application let us just recall basic definition of 4R'S.

Applications of 4 R'S principles

Reduce

The best way to keep solid waste out of the waste stream is to reduce it at it source i.e. Source reduction.

There are many ways to achieve source reduction at personal level and institutional level.

The number of them are listed below

1) Use of paper can be reduced, paper is used on both side for photocopying, printing etc... .
It can also so be reduced if electronic communications like email is used for office correspondence.

2) Choose products for which refills are available example hand wash.

3) Improve your process to avoid rejected products.

4) Buy bulk packed material to reduce packaging waste.

5) Adopt stock management to minimise the generation of expired products/ consumable.

6) Handle and store materials carefully to reduce breakages and spills.

7) Use water based paint it instead of solvent based paint.

8) Use cloth towel instead of paper towel.

9) Avoid using disposables.

10) Share or rent items which are not used frequently. E.g. carpet cleaners, garden tillers etc.

11) Compost your food waste and yard waste.

12) Use bulletin boards to post memos instead of distributing copies.

13) Bur or make alternative products that don't contain toxic substances such is make all purpose cleaner from baking soda and water instead of using phenol compounds.

Reuse

Product should be used for its fullest shelf life. It may or may not be sustainable to use it for or its original purpose, but it can serve many other useful purpose.

When we reuse an item for a different purpose then original instead such as using a plastic peanut butter to hold nails or buttons.

We eliminate the need of buy new containers for nil or buttons.

By using the bag or the jar we have divided these items for entering the waste stream.

There are many ways to reduce the number of items that can become the part of waste stream.

Examples are given below

1) Use reusable cutlery, dishes, cubs and coffee filters ( e.g. avoid using paper cups).

2) Reuse packaging material ( e.g. boxes ,plastic bags )

3) Ask supplier to take back packaging material for reuse.

4) Reuse equipment part and fixtures and repair furniture to reduce waste.

5) Reuse clothes check to carry your groceries each time you shop.

6) Reuse old tyres for swings or play ground obstacle courses.

7) Buy reusable products such as rechargeable batteries.

8) Refill printer and copy cartridges.

9) Water which is used for cleaning the floor in the house can be used for gardening.

Provide separated beans for collecting used packaging, cord binding, envelopes, organic materials and other materials that can be reused.

Recycle

When objects are recycled, the materials they were made from are reused. This conserve natural resources.

Recycling is a sometimes refers to as a resource recovery. There are two approaches to resource recovery

  • Centralised resource recovery
  • Source separated recycling

In a centralised system, the recyclable materials are collected, mixed and then sent to a Central location code a MRF , material recovery ( or reclamation or recycling ) facility, to be shorted and processed.

The recycle material have to separated into like materials such as steel ,aluminium ,glass ,plastic and paper.

In source separations recycling , the user separates the material that are going to be recycled at the time of disposal.

Material are sorted into different bins and beans are set out for pickup.

Compartmentalized trucks are then used to collect the materials and delivery the recycle able to recycling processor where contamination is removed and separated material are prepared for shipment to market.

Few examples are:

1) Donate old computers, electronic appliances and furnitures to Charity or participate in the trial recovery program for computers and electronic appliances organised by the mental protection department.

2) Separated scrap metal, wood and plastic from industrial waste for recycling.

3) Composting of food and yard waste.

4) Recycle glass buy letting it decomposes into the lawn, where it returns nutrients to the soil.

Recover

Which should be seen as a potential resources. "Recover" components of 4'R aims to use waste as a resources.

Waste can be used for generation of energy ,production of compost etc.

Few examples on how waste can be treated as a potential resources are given below

1) Use organic waste kitchen waste in manufacturing of compost.

2) Generate electricity with waste to energy concept.

3) Production of compost from municipal solid waste.

4) Heat stored in the gaseous emission can be used to two by using waste heat recovery boilers.

Our view

We hope through the help of our article, use of 4R'S principle become as simple as its theory part.

When the conservation of environment or controlling pollution become easy due to small change steps of humans.

It inspired us to protect our earth more willingly.

Similarly in this article we did convey you best and simple also practical ways to apply 4R'S in our lifestyle.
